Around the World – Fortunato Depero

I realized this video as a multimedial features of a stage performance of the theater company “La corte dei Miracoli“. The performance included lectures of futuristic plays by different authors and the prizegiving to winning competitors in a poetical competition about futurism.

The concept behind the video come to me while watching the  video of the popular dance song “Around the World” by Daft Punk. I thought that combining the paintings and advertisements by futuristc artist Fortunato Depero with this song could be a effective and nice way to explain a little bit of the artist to today people rather that making a boring video with pictures fading staticly into one another.

The video has been projected during the performance on the 18th of June 2009 in the Teatro Civico in Sassari.

La Corte dei Miracoli – advertising & set designing

I was involved by the friends’ theater company “La Corte dei Miracoli” in a show about the unemployment in Italy. It was infact a presentation of a book on the subject.

My task was the creation of some silouette portraiting samples of possible unemployed (or with a unstable job) people and displaying text extracted from the book.

These Silouette were placed as an advertising outside the performance sites.

Some friends of mine have just started this year their activity as a theater company. Their name is “La Corte dei Miracoli“, literally ” The Miracles Court”. They deal mostly with books presentations, reading and interpreting some lines. They are indead pretty good in what they do; their performance are quite unusual and surprising most of the times.

They contacted me for proposal on their logo. I made some sketches and those are the two results between whitch to choose.

The first one comes directly from the rappresentation of their nickname so that the two capitals letters of the name become a stylized castel. I tried to combine the figurative and the stylization in balance to reach the result of a reckonizable logo without too much drawing work.

The second solutions, which I am most found of, has come to me during the search of a more abstract, or should we say less name-releated, form. I was looking for something that symbolized the peculiarity of the company’s performances, something that had to do with mistery and new ways of exprection.

The eye is the one that satisfied me the most.

Opposit to the previus logo, here the name is almost hidden to give importance to the picture itself and the sensations that it comunicates (or at least it should ;D ). Only in a second moment the user sees the written words and understands what this is all about.

Anyway, the choice is not definitive yet  and I’m still researching for better solutions.
