Starting from four mini iPhone applications developed by our teacher Yaniv Steiner as code trials, we focused on one of these with the intent of adding content and graphics to it.

Me and my colleague Barbara Carcangiu chose to work on the “Magic Card” application, but instead of performing a magical trick, we thought about using it to trick friends.

The flow of our application has now become something like this.

Flow iPhault

When the iPhone is still on a surface it displays a fake screen image. When it senses a vibration (either somebody touched the surface, or picked it up) it starts to display, frame after frame, a crashing interface, like a virus has crashed the system.

To promote our application we realized commercial images and texts. As it’s used in the App Store, we made four screenshot images, the icon, and the advertising image, using the same formats and size, and the descrition for the store.

Trick your friends and make them believe they messed up your iPhone.
Simply  run the application and, with nonchalance, leave it still onthe table.
The first curious guy that touches it, will launch an animation sequence simulating a crash: icons fall down, get pixelated and strange error signs will start to be displayed in the background…
Only for few second, enjoy his temporary panic and raise an evil grin.
Nevertheless worry not, your phone will return to its perfect functional state, simply by pressing the home button as you both laugh together (hopefully!).
