Laboratorio Movimento - “Adorable Illusion”
In the last semenster of this year’s Design Course by the Faculty of Architecture in Alghero we worked with animations and LEGO mindstorm on a defined theme. We were divided in groups and each group would choose a theme and find a way to express its topic in a both digital and physical way.
My group choosed the theme of the mask, seen as a disguise in the social life. But also is a way to protect your own self that can be revealed only by uncovering one mask at the time.
Our reflection on the theme doesn’t have any intent of condamning the “masked-behaviour” of our society, it is just a “narration”, more like a fairytale of what happens when one leaves those mask apart.
First we concentreted on the animations, made with Adobe After Effect, and then we moved the concept of the video on the Mindstorm software.

La Corte dei Miracoli - LOGO
Some friends of mine have just started this year their activity as a theater company. Their name is “La Corte dei Miracoli”, literally ” The Miracles Court”. They deal mostly with books presentations, reading and interpreting some lines. They are indead pretty good in what they do; their performance are quite unusual and surprising most of the times.
They contacted me for proposal on their logo. I made some sketches and those are the two results between whitch to choose.
The first one comes directly from the rappresentation of their nickname so that the two capitals letters of the name become a stylized castel. I tried to combine the figurative and the stylization in balance to reach the result of a reckonizable logo without too much drawing work.
The second solutions, which I am most found of, has come to me during the search of a more abstract, or should we say less name-releated, form. I was looking for something that symbolized the peculiarity of the company’s performances, something that had to do with mistery and new ways of exprection.
The eye is the one that satisfied me the most.
Opposit to the previus logo, here the name is almost hidden to give importance to the picture itself and the sensations that it comunicates (or at least it should ;D ). Only in a second moment the user sees the written words and understands what this is all about.
Anyway, the choice is not definitive yet and I’m still researching for better solutions.

Wii Flash Games

Wiiflashgames is a colective of four minigames developed with flash that shall be played with the Wii controller.
The group I belonged in created a game named waterfall. In this game the wiimote is used to controll a pellican’s movements along the sceen and to catch this way the fishes that are jumping out of the water. The more fishes you have, the happier Silvano the pellican will be!
Our part in the development of the game was to bring the graphic and the objects whereas in the code matter we were helped by our professor Yaniv Steiner.

TicTry: Grear up your life

Audacious and aggressive, Tictry consists of two units: the useful joystick and the “rhythm controller” with which manage the time of the songs through a magnetic plectrum.
Can you handle it?
TicTry is an innovative joystick developed to play with Frets on Fire by Justobene (my team).
The game was supposed to be palyed using the keyboard, but it was unconfortable and unaestetic.
So we repleced the keyboard with a highly ergonomic object, aggressive and audacious in style.
Tictry is made up by two different parts: the joypad and the rhythm controller with which you control the songs beat with a magnetic plectrum. Is that movement that will make you feel real part of the game.

Laboratorio Colore - La Stanza Di Van Gogh
Questo post fa capo al Laboratorio Colore tenuto dal prof.Brusatin presso la Facoltà di Architettura di Alghero.
Il progetto

Il corso si divideva in due fasi: la prima che prevedeva la ricostruzione, a partire dal famoso quadro “La camera di Van Gogh” (1888), dell’ambiente tramite disegni e modellini, e una seconda più personale dove era necessario progettare la parte restante della stanza.
La soluzione
Partendo dal background del pittore mi sono concentrata sul momento della creazione artistica e quindi su come migliorare le sue conzioni di lavoro.
Prendendo come base del progetto la luce ho elaborato un sistema di vetrate che influisse sulla composizione cromatica della stanza modificandone l’atmosfera.
In seguito, sempre con riferimento alla luce, ho arredato la parte restante della stanza come se fosse uno studio in cui il pittore lavorasse ai suoi quadri.

Le forme e il posizionamento dei mobili sono in stretta correlazione con la luce e il suo cambiamento nel corso della giornata.

ALGHERO - HODI Interaction Design 2008
1. In your words, what is Interaction design?
I belive that Interaction Design is not only about designing a clean, simple and easy to use interface, but it’s also really about the “interaction” that a general device (either digital or not) can provide to the user, enabling him to “make something happen”, to produce some “changings” in the surrounding enviroment (virtual or physical alike).
Through the feedbacks given by the device, whitch should be able to change its behaviour depending on the inputs, the user has the feeling of being active part of the process.
In addiction to that, we can see Interaction Design as a way for people to communicate with each other expressing their emotions. In fact, with the aid of technology, is possible to create a connection between people far away, that even don’t know each other.(like the Oneword project by Todo) .
Credo che l’Interaction design non consista soltanto nel progettare un’interfaccia semplice e facile da usare, ma debba occuparsi soprattutto “l’interazione” che un generico strumento (digitale o non) fornisce all’utente, permettendogli di “far accadere qualcosa”, di produrre dei “cambiamenti” nell’ambiente circostante (virtuale o fisico).
Attraverso i feedback forniti dallo strumento, che deve essere capace di risposte differenti ad input differenti, l’utente ha la sensazione di sentirsi parte attiva del processo.
In aggiunta a ciś, possiamo considerare l’Interaction Design come una via di comunicazione tra le persone e quindi un tramite delle espressione delle proprie emozioni. Infatti, con l’aiuto della tecnologia, Ä possibile mettere in contatto persone lontane che magari non si conoscono neppure.
(come il progetto Oneword di Todo).
2. What is “Bricolage” , what was the implementation of such philosophy in your work during the last month?
Un esempio di ciś Å sicuramente la costruzione del nostro 1Ī prototipo per il joystick di FoF. Infatti, poichÅ era necessario afferrarlo saldamente con la mano per premere i tasti, c’era bisogno di un materiale morbido e comodo per il retro (dove il palmo e l’oggetto vengono a contatto) per il quale abbiamo utilizzato un pezzo di una vecchia muta.
The text should have a definition of the specific topic you picked, background research stating existing products, why do people desire / use them and possible new solutions that can be implemented on the specific topic.
An example of digital entrateinment is wachting dvd movies.
Dvds can provide a higher entrateinment that the movie itself due to all the extras included in the video that you can watch extras without leaving your sofa.
Many things are nowadays categorized as extras. It can be trailers, it can be director’s commentary, it can even be minigames (used for example in the Harry Potter’s dvds). The ones that have the higher success are interviews and b-roll probabilly because the audience is interested in hearing opinions about the story and the characters.
However, there’s no way to interact with the movie itself.
I thought that one possible field of development can be implementing something like karaoke, that’s another successful digital entrateinment, but with the movie script.
This new function could provide a greater interaction between user and product because you can really pretend to be the movie character, or, otherwise, some could have a great laugh by making the characters say whatever they want.
Another possible way to interact with the film, without considering the extras section, could be to express your like/dislike for the movie, like you do with applause while watching a play.
This might work really well with rented dvd,that are watched by many people, or in theaters as a way to collect data on the movie success.
There could be, for instance, a special device, let’s say a soft ball, that changes color if you squeeze it (meaning you are deeply concentrated in the movie) or not. Un esempio d’intrattenimento digitale Ä guardare i film in dvd.
I dvd forniscono un piØ altro grado di intrattenimento del semplice film a causa di tutti gli extra inclusi nel video che si possono guardare gli extra senza alzarsi dal divano.
Al momento molte cose sono inserite sotto la voce extra. Possono essere trailer, commento del regista, possono addirittura essere dei minigiochi (come succede per esempio nei dvd dei film di Harry Potter). Quelli che hanno maggior successo sono le interviste e i dietro-le-quinte forse perchÄ il pubblico Ä interessato a sentire delle opinioni sulla trama e sui personaggi.
Perś non c’Ä modo di interagire con il film stesso.
Ho pensato ad un possibile ambito di sviluppo per potrebbe essere inserire qualcosa tipo il karaoke, che Ä un altro intrattenimento digitale di successo, ma con il copione del film.
Questa nuova funzione potrebbe fornire una maggiore interazione tra l’utente e il prodotto perchÄ si puś davvero fingere di essere il personaggio o, altrimenti, alcuni potrebbero farsi delle belle risate facendo dire al personaggio ciś che vogliono.
Un’altro eventuale modo di interagire con il film, senza utilizzare la sezione extra, potrebbe essere quello di esprimere la propria approvazione/disapprovazione riguardo il film, come accade nei teatri con gli applausi.
Questo potrebbe rivelarsi particolarmente efficace con i dvd noleggiati, che vengono guardati da molte persone diverse, o nei cinema come metodo di sondaggio.
Ci potrebbe essere, per esempio, uno speciale strumento, facciamo una pallina morbida, che cambi colore se la si stringe (significando che si Ä concentrati sul film) oppure no.

Cosa ho fatto : Nel 2007 mi sono diplomata (100/100) al liceo classico D.A. Azuni di Sassari presentando una tesina sul fenomeno del paradosso. Durante i 5 anni di studi superiori ho conseguito il certificato CAE per la lingua inglese e lo Sprachdiplom per la lingua tedesca.
